Each cake tells a story at Poem Patisserie. Their beautiful handcrafted cakes are some of the most unique ones you’ll find in Hong Kong. So if you’re looking for a cake to truly wow your guests, this bakery is the right one to shop at! Indeed, they combine the culture of Hong Kong with French patisserie techniques to bake cakes that truly celebrate the beauty of the city. Their flavours are inspired by dim sum and traditional Chinese dessert soup and they only use the most premium ingredients carefully handpicked to create cakes that are truly one of a kind. They even have an online store to save you any hassle this busy holiday season! If you’d prefer to visit their store in person, drop by any time on Tuesday to Saturday, 11:00AM – 7:30PM.

We recommend their signature Hong Kong Style Waffle Cake, as it’s simply delicious. Alternatively, if you’d prefer a more varied spread on your dinner table, you can opt for their sets of 3-8 smaller cakes.

Address: G/F 210 Hollywood Road, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong.

Sugar Me turns cake making into an art with their beautifully sculpted creations. Seriously, these cakes are so jaw-droppingly magnificent, you won’t feel like ruining them by cutting a slice out! They taste just as good as they look though, after all, this bakery was founded by award-winning sugar artist Shirley Kwok. Some of their most interesting cakes include a Tree of Life cake, a unicorn cake, and one that looks just like the Millenium Falcon.

You can order a cake from their website and have it delivered straight to your home or visit their store in-person anytime on Tuesday to Sunday, 10AM – 7PM. They also do personalized cakes, simply fill up the order form on their website or give them a call! You can even send them pictures of what you want the cake to look like and they will ensure you have the perfect cake.

If you or any of your loved ones are vegan, The Vege Lab is the shop for you! They create amazing egg- and dairy-free cakes without compromising on taste or quality. In fact, you won’t even realise the difference between their cakes and the cakes made with egg and dairy products. Their aim is to create vegan pastries which balance flavours, visuals and health, and they certainly do achieve that. They only use organic and unrefined ingredients such as unbleached flour and local edible flowers. You can also opt for a personalised message made with yummy fondant on your cake.

We recommend the Rum Dark Chocolate Cake, or the Early Grey Cake as both are equally delicious. You can buy a cake from their website or drop by their store at least 3 days in advance from when you would need the cake. Keep in mind that in-person visits are by appointment only.

Address: 10S, Everest Industrial Centre, 396 Kwun Tong Road, Kwun Tong, Hong Kong.

The flavours at Jouer are carefully selected to bring back fond memories of your childhood. Jouer creates cakes that taste like sticky toffee pudding and banoffee. This artisanal café is most well known for their naked layered cakes, but our favourite is their “Swirl” Marble Red Velvet Cake. They incorporate playfulness into the design of each and every cake. After all, ‘Jouer’ does mean play in French. Founded by artist-cum-patissier Anne Cheung, the cakes in this bakery tell a story of indulgence, creativity, beauty and pleasure.
